Here’s a timeline for you:
– The first COVID vaccine in the US was given on Dec 14th.
– By Jan 15th 10.6 Million does had been administered
– By Feb 15th 39.6 Million doses had been administered
Let me rephrase that for you: In the first month of the Biden Administration, they got out 4x as many vaccinations as the last month of the Trump administration. **Four Times** as many vaccinations! Quadruple!
Now keep in mind, the Trump administration had all year to come up with a distribution plan for once the vaccine was ready. For all of Trump’s blather about “Operation Warp Speed” developing the vaccine, it appears their plan to actually get people vaccinated should be called “Operation Horse and Buggy”. When the Biden health team got in place, they were shocked by the complete lack of organization left behind. They had to overhaul everything on the fly and they STILL managed to be 4x as effective as the Trump team. Four F$%king times. Just imagine how far along we might be if Trump had put even a single ounce of effort into a vaccination plan?
This is all anyone should ever think about when it comes to Donald Trump. Well, this and the fact he tried to overthrow our democracy, but they kind of go hand-in-hand. The worst health crisis in 100 years was ravaging the country, hundreds of thousands of Americans dead, the economy totally shutdown, people out of work, people losing their homes and businesses… and there was a working vaccine sitting in warehouses… but Trump chose to spend his final month in office spreading #TheBigLie instead of the vaccine. It is hard to accurately calculate this level of selfishness.
More Americans died from COVID in one year than in all four years of World War II. That is staggering. Every single Republican in Congress who spent the winter fighting the results of the 2020 election instead of organizing vaccination sites should be brought up on criminal charges. They should all be forced to resign from office and they should be put at the bottom of the vaccination list. Of course, we now know that Trump and most of his co-conspirators were the first ones in line to get the shot. Yes, the exact same people who spent most of 2020 telling everyone in America COVID was hoax, or that it would simply go away on its own – those same people got themselves vaccinated, and left the rest of the doses sitting on pallets. Then they moved on to blocking financial relief for those same people whose lives have been wrecked by the virus. Every American needs to remember this for the rest of their lives. Every Election Day, as people walk into voting booths, this travesty should be at the front their minds. Every time they see the letters GOP, see an elephant logo, see (R) next to someone’s name, they should think of nothing else but the fact that the Republican party left the country to die in it’s time of greatest need.
